Product draft, not final legal advice
This page is a product draft for AudioNode's intended rules. Have qualified legal counsel review it, adapt it to the business and jurisdictions involved, and approve it before treating it as a final legal agreement.
01 / The relationship
Agreement and scope
These Terms and Conditions govern your use of the AudioNode website, Studio, local Audacity companion, project workspace, audio processing, separation, recording, arrangement, and AI-assisted features. They explain how the service handles private work and how you control the material and results you bring into a session.
By creating an account, opening a project, downloading a launcher, or using AudioNode, you agree to these terms and any feature-specific instructions shown in the product. If you do not agree, do not use the service.
02 / Access
Accounts and access
Keep your account information accurate and protect the credentials or access methods associated with it. You are responsible for activity carried out through your account and for reviewing the privacy and security of any computer where you run the local companion.
Do not share access in a way that defeats project privacy, bypasses plan limits, interferes with authentication or authorization, or exposes another person's private workspace. AudioNode may limit or suspend access when needed to protect the service, users, or third parties.
03 / The core rule
You control the work you bring in
AudioNode is built for user-directed production. You choose what to upload or connect, then edit, reproduce, isolate, separate, transform, remake, process, arrange, record, and export it through available workflows. AudioNode does not require you to prove ownership, explain permission, or check a rights box for a particular file or operation.
You decide what to keep, change, export, release, sell, license, perform, or monetize. AudioNode does not make a rights determination for a source or result, and a successful import, render, or export is not a clearance decision.
- Use Studio to make the creative and production choices that fit your project.
- Keep project records, collaborator notes, and release decisions that matter to you.
- Review each result before you take it outside Studio.
04 / The wider stack
Third-party material and services
Samples, beats, plugins, model providers, collaborators, distributors, and other services can have terms that affect a project or release. Read the terms you choose to accept and keep the records you need for your work.
AudioNode does not verify, approve, or enforce those arrangements inside a file import or production action. If you release or monetize work, you decide which credits, agreements, platform rules, and commercial conditions apply.
05 / Ownership
AudioNode does not take ownership or distribute your work
As between you and AudioNode, you keep the ownership interests and control you bring to your audio, project material, and outputs. AudioNode does not claim ownership of user audio or outputs, and it does not sell, license, release, or distribute your work on your behalf as a music catalog.
AudioNode may host, transmit, copy, analyze, transform, and temporarily cache material only as needed to provide a requested feature, secure the service, maintain the product, and comply with law. This limited operational handling is not an ownership transfer and does not make AudioNode your label, publisher, distributor, or rights manager.
Service pricing is separate from your creative and commercial decisions. You choose whether and how to monetize work outside AudioNode.
06 / Review before use
AI tools are production tools
AI-assisted generation, separation, isolation, processing, and transformation can produce unexpected, incomplete, or similar-sounding results. AudioNode does not guarantee that an output is unique, non-infringing, accurate, technically suitable, or available for a particular release, platform, territory, or commercial use.
Review every result before you keep, export, publish, sell, license, perform, or share it. You decide what to use and remain responsible for checking sound quality, unwanted material, credits, collaborators, and platform requirements relevant to your plans.
07 / Where files move
Local companion and cloud handling
The Audacity companion runs on your computer and communicates with the Studio through loopback. It is designed to use approved local folders and reviewed actions. Keep its launcher window open while you use it, and download or stage files yourself when you want to import them into an allowed folder.
When you upload a project or request a cloud feature, AudioNode may store or transmit the relevant files, project data, prompts, and outputs to operate that feature. The local companion does not make a cloud copy by itself. You remain responsible for choosing what to upload, keeping your own backups, and reviewing any third-party provider terms involved in a requested workflow.
08 / Use the room responsibly
Acceptable use and prohibited conduct
Use AudioNode only for lawful creative, educational, and production work. Do not use it to infringe copyright, trademark, privacy, publicity, or other rights; impersonate a person; create harmful deception; conduct abusive surveillance; create or distribute unlawful material; evade safety controls; or interfere with another user's account, project, device, or access.
Do not upload malware or harmful code, probe or bypass security controls, scrape private project data, abuse the local bridge, send raw commands to Audacity through an unsupported path, or use the service to build a competing unauthorized access layer. Follow the terms of every third-party service you connect to or use alongside AudioNode.
09 / After export
You control downstream release and monetization
You decide whether to keep, edit, export, release, sell, license, perform, or share a project or output. You also decide whether and how to monetize it. Before taking work to a distributor, platform, collaborator, client, or audience, review the requirements you choose to follow, including credits, splits, registrations, and release policies.
AudioNode does not act as your label, publisher, distributor, clearance service, manager, or legal adviser. A successful export or clean-sounding result does not decide what you do with it.
10 / Product limits
Service availability and limitations
AudioNode may change, pause, limit, or discontinue features, processing capacity, storage, integrations, or local companion compatibility. Local operating systems, Audacity versions, browser permissions, network conditions, file formats, third-party providers, and model behavior can affect results. We do not promise uninterrupted availability or that every file, computer, or workflow will work.
Keep independent copies of important sources, projects, and exports. The Studio is not a substitute for a backup system or professional mix and mastering review.
11 / Claims and responsibility
Your responsibility for your material
You are responsible for the material you submit, the instructions you give, the results you select, and the way you use or share them. To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to address claims, losses, costs, and reasonable expenses arising from your material, your instructions, your outputs, your downstream use, your breach of these terms, or your unlawful use of the service.
Nothing in these terms removes rights or protections that cannot be waived under applicable law. These terms do not make AudioNode immune from liability, override copyright or privacy law, replace a provider's license, or decide a dispute that only a court or qualified adviser can decide.
12 / Changes
Suspension, termination, and updates
You may stop using AudioNode at any time. AudioNode may suspend or end access when reasonably necessary for security, nonpayment, service protection, legal compliance, suspected abuse, or a material breach of these terms. Where appropriate, we may give notice and an opportunity to address the issue.
We may update these terms as the product changes. We will post the revised version with a new effective date when practical. If you continue using AudioNode after an update takes effect, that use indicates acceptance of the revised terms. Keep copies of important project records and review this page before major releases.
13 / Keep the channel clear
Contact
AudioNode will publish a designated legal or support channel before this draft is treated as a final legal agreement. Until then, use the support channel shown in your account or on the website, if one is available, for questions about these terms, privacy, and account access:
Contact channel to be published after legal review
Keep your own project records
Save source files, collaborator notes, credits, release decisions, and export history with the project. AudioNode can organize a workflow, but it cannot replace your records or qualified legal review.
